3rd amendment to the Packaging Act

The third and final amendment to the Packaging Act of 9 June 2021 will come into force on 1 July 2022. This means that all manufacturers are obliged to register with the Central Agency Packaging Register for all packaging they place on the market.

For already registered manufacturers, a change registration is possible via their account and can be made from 05 May 2022, but must be made from 01 July 2022.

For currently unregistered manufacturers, this means a new registration with all packaging in the portfolio.
For all those affected, the distinction between

1. Packaging subject to system participation (however, this should already have been the case since 01 January 2019),
2. Transport packaging,
3. secondary packaging,
4. service packaging, if this is purchased pre-licensed (otherwise 1. applies) and
5. Reusable packaging.
